The autumn storms sweep over the land and the fog cloaks and veils the landscape. The dark season has
begun and therewith the year is drawing to a close.

As we indulge in the lightheartedness of summer during sunshine, we begin to be thoughtful in the dark season. We review the year. This is an entirely natural rhythm, because nature also withdraws its juices and sinks into a kind of rigor mortis. Even our ancestors adapted to this rhythm and celebrated, according to the annual cycle, their annual festivals.

The Celts bowed out of their old year with the Samhain festival. Samhain is being celebrated on the eleventh full moon of the year, starting from the day of the winter solstice. Here the old growing season ends. However, winter does not begin until the next new moon, which is also being celebrated as Samhain. The wild hunt rages between the full moon and the new moon, much like the 13 rough nights in Germanic-Nordic customs.

The ghost nights between Samhain’s full moon and Samhain’s new moon are being used for remembering the dead, for hero worshipping and to expel evil spirits. This period of time serves to gradually say farewell to the old year and old things and to prepare for the new year.

So this is just the right time to break away from old connections and to start a new beginning. This year, in the time of Samhain, we dissolved a bond of matrimony.

When a common path through life ends, it is important to very deliberately detach from these people. Since only after that a new phase of life can begin. During handfasting, the newlyweds are being connected with a wedding tie. The knot symbolises the newly created connection here. This knot must be reopened to permanently resolve this connection.

At a marriage party many of these wedding rites are being practiced. These rituals must now be reversed. Only then this connection is actually solved!

In the dissolution of a marriage, you also release yourself from your own vow to be faithful. You “clear the spot” and thus pave the way for a new future.

We wish you all a contemplative and peaceful winter time!

[1

post-7697","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-verschiedenes
["GET
