Medieval Marriage on 16 August 2014 at the Dutch-German Border

Up ‘n Twist, located right at the Dutch-German border, 19 of us and 65 wedding guests met for the medieval ceremony. On the waterfront of a small lake, a medieval village was created for Anja and Martin. According to ancient custom, blacksmith Horst of the “Haderers” manufactured the wedding rings. The dice were cast and therefore the couple bravely walked to the ceremony.

When the priestess connected the two of them in the Handfasting, all guests loudly expressed their consent to the bond of matrimony. After the ceremony there was hearty medieval food, music by the Essen minstrels “Des Wahnsinns fette Beute” and further spectacle that was organised by the “Haderers”. A very special thanks goes to the family of the Reit- und Ponyhof Niers (horse and pony farm) in Twist for their kind support and terrific cooperation.
