21 June 2026 – Viking wedding on the summer solstice in Schwäbisch Hall

Today we heed the call of the summer sun and journey to where the River Jagst flows gently through the countryside. Winding its way through rolling hills, meadows and ancient trees, our path leads to the spot where Annika and Jeremy will enter into their sacred marriage vows in the splendour of the summer solstice.

As late afternoon draws in, the day’s heat slowly subsides. Now the clan gathers, and the ceremony begins. Carried by the sounds of nature and accompanied by the gentle murmur of the river, our bride and groom walk through the torch-lit procession.

The priest of the ancient way raises his voice. He sends messengers to all four corners of the world to seek the gods’ consent. The messengers return with glad tidings. Odin and Freyja, Thor and Sif graciously approve of the union between Annika and Jeremy.

The lovers then trustingly clasp their hands together over the pommel of the sword. The priestess steps forward and wraps a specially made ribbon around their hands several times. Handfasting is the traditional rite to seal this union. Words of love, fidelity and mutual respect flow into their vows, which are carried out into the world by the wind. The witnesses step alongside the newlyweds, thereby reinforcing this sacred moment.

Following the pagan wedding ceremony, the guests gather for a festive dinner to celebrate the newlyweds in style. Food and drink are served in an atmospheric setting, accompanied by cheerful conversation and heartfelt congratulations.

And so the celebrations continue, and we look forward to the day’s remaining highlights.

As the sun slowly sinks below the horizon, a golden glow spreads across the landscape. At that moment, everyone knows: Annika and Jeremy’s bond is as powerful as today’s sun – bright, enduring and full of life.

Dear Annika, dear Jeremy, it was an honour for us to spend your big day with you. We wish you all the very best for your future together. May you always be as happy as you are today!
