Medieval Marriage on 14 September 2013 on Lindwerder Island

Some will know Berlin just as a metropolis with stinking cars, smoky chimneys and dozens of skyscrapers and shopping centres. However, what many people yet don’t know is that Berlin is the European capital city with the largest woods and greens. In this way, Berlin also has nice and very beautiful places, you just got to know where. We went to such a beautiful spot of Berlin on Saturday, to commemorate a pagan medieval marriage together with our bridal couple Jennyfer and Fabian.

In the lower Havel, just ahead of Berlin Wannsee, the small Lindwerder Island is located. That island is just about big enough for a restaurant with terrace and a gorgeous fairground in the middle of nature. Sailing yachts and pleasure boats are passing by here, and the blue sky and the shallow swell of the Havel do the remaining to envelope the ceremony place with an enchanting atmosphere. You can only reach the island with a ferry link, which makes it to a quite undisturbed place with no fear that it might eventually be overflown with people on such a nice and sunny weekend.

On our 49th Eheleite we could welcome fifty wedding guests, who took a lot of care with the many details of their medieval costumes. That was a nice view, not only for us, but also for the rest of the island visitors, who eyed our colourful companionship curiously.

As Jennyfer and Fabian arrived then and the ceremony started at 3 pm, many guests were moved to tears. But everybody saw how happy and caring the couple interacts with each other and therefore complies with the requirements for the combined path through life. When the priestess connected the two in the Handfasting, the guests blared a loud “So sei es! So sei es! So sei es!” (So be it!) hearable all over the small island and over the waters of Havel and Wannsee and hence declared to the whole world: Jennyfer and Fabian have married, a magic bond will keep them together for good.
